Explain why you want an inspection
You may be investigating a leak, checking a roof after weather, or planning future work. Tell the roofer what prompted the inspection and share any known repair history. Include the roof’s age and material if you know them.
Your question helps define the inspection. Ask what will be reviewed, how access will be handled, and whether the assessment includes relevant interior observations.
Agree on the scope
Inspection scope can vary with access, roof type, and the purpose of the visit. Confirm the details with the roofer before scheduling.
- The roof covering and visible condition.
- Flashing, penetrations, and roof edges.
- Drainage and ventilation observations within the agreed scope.
- Areas that cannot be accessed or fully assessed.
Make the findings useful
Ask for a clear explanation of the observations, with photos or a written summary where available. Separate confirmed findings from areas that need more investigation.
Discuss the priority of any proposed work, why it is recommended, and the limits of the inspection. An inspection describes the condition assessed at the time; it cannot guarantee the future performance of the roof.
Decide on the next step
The findings may support maintenance planning, a repair discussion, or a broader replacement proposal. Ask for a written scope and compare any recommendations before committing to work.
Prime Home Exterior works with roofers across all 50 states. Prepare your ZIP code and inspection goals in our project details form. The form downloads a summary for you and does not currently send an inquiry or book a visit.
